Why Mammadoo? It’s Just Cheaper Than Therapy

An answer to 2 questions I constantly get asked –

Why Mammadoo and Why Now?

What’s Mammadoo? Why now? Someone recently asked me why I was so active on Instagram all of a sudden. Many people I know and certainly people I don’t know, have an active social media life to announce their hourly updates to the world (both paid partnerships and otherwise), to give us a running commentary of their exotic holiday or to just make that one particular ex extremely jealous.

I for one accidently discovered that when I posted that first pic (well actually second), I started jogging my brain trying to find a good caption and some novel hashtags. Just typing a short sentence followed by some spaceless words and #s actually made me feel good and dare I say – PROUD. It reminded me instantly of the days when I would write pieces just for myself; articles on completely random topics from what your name meant to you to the debate on President Obama’s birth certificate.

Somewhere along the way, either being bogged down by Mom Brain (oh that’s a real thing, and warrants a separate post all together), or just getting too caught up writing on subjects given by my editors, I lost track of the joy of penning down all the haphazard thoughts floating around in my head. Now these were always just for me, sometimes for fun, sometimes to clear the thoughts in my head and sometimes a step further, as self-inflicted therapy.

So Why Now?

So when I rediscovered the power of captioning, I was flooded with the sense of revival. This in turn translated to me trying to find and click one good thing about everyday and coming up with a vague caption that only a select few would actually get. Again, this was all just for myself. I found something that was just for me; a world to express a thought about the simplest things that made me feel joy. And now this blog is but an extension of my one sentence quotes and captions from my Insta accountAn outlet for my OVERFLOWING, OVER-THOUGHT THOUGHTS!

Why Mammadoo?

This oddly therapeutic feeling while I typed out the intricacies of my headspace was nostalgic and also was weirdly enough, thrilling. I was amazed at the flow of words as I typed and also quickly realized that more than 75% of my left and right hemispheres combined, was flooded with thoughts on thoughts of being a mamma. This lead to the birth of, yes you guessed it right, yet another mom blog. It is complete randomness about my mom life… but trust me it’s anything but mundane (no mom’s life usually is). If my posts resonate with even one other person out there, a mom, a dad, a nanny, a puppy… then of course, that’s the added bonus. To know more on my journey to this day, let’s play Knock Knock!

If you know me, you know I am super fanatical about letting kids just be and mentoring them into becoming the spirits they were born to be. This applies to all kids including the super special kind like mine. My goal with this blog is to not only give you solace in knowing you are not alone in this cray-cray train but to also offer some ideas, resources and learning aids to help you guide your child. Being a Montessorian and an ardent DIYer can be a bane and a boon at times. Discovering creative ways to teach is something that really gets the adrenaline pumping. To top that off, there’s a certain rush in sharing something that you create, and that’s where Mammadoo comes in… my lil speck in this universe, where I would love to share a part of me with you.

Opinion Outlook

This in no way makes me an expert or a qualified specialist, but my blog will be distinctive coz all the opinions and views are strictly Mammadoo’s. Share the sentiment or downright oppose the views, either way it is mine to share and yours to read. It’s my own little way of maintaining some sanity, coz trust me, else I’d have to be in therapy.

So let me know, what is your little ritual? Your ritual to maintain your sanity… your ritual to fill your cup… your ritual to maintain the core that is you. I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.

Until next time… together let’s find the joy in our mamma drama.
