A not-so-special mom to an exceptionally special lil’ fella!
Mamma bear, certified storyteller, Montessorian, TEDx speaker, writer, baker, and couch potato, this mamma definitely needs six hands to get through a day! Even though I am the epitome of mom brain, my head is filled with utter randomness that makes complete sense to me in that very moment. I hope I’m not crazy and they make sense to you too.
“I’m always better with kids than with adults” is a line I find myself constantly using while explaining why I do what I do.
Mom to a wonderfully special toddler and a self-taught DIY mom, I am on a constant quest to learn new things about everything from therapies to recipes and in the process learn a whole lot about myself and of course my lil’ bub has been my biggest teacher to date. As a mom of a child with special needs (whatever those needs may be), like me you may find that your voice needs to louder and your opinions needs to be firmer.
When I began this journey, all I did was throw all my fiction books aside and my kindle was loaded with books on everything from sensory processing to apraxia and motor planning. Be that as it may, helpful in their own accord, what helped was talking to other moms who walk alongside us in this journey. No one plans on this journey, but once you start the path, the diversions ahead really make you question everything you’ve been conditioned to believe.
Therapy for myself became penning down my musings. Now they may all be just parenting topics with a hint of my tongue in cheek opinions, but from my point they will be a long journal of my journey with my lil man… and I for one can’t wait to see where it takes us. More details on the birth of Mammadoo right here.
Inspired by everything from nature to funny quotes and our oh-so-judgmental society, the reflections here are just honest opinions and completely unbiased views on just about anything. My own little space in this cosmic universe, MammaDoo will cover themes from, you guessed it – mommying and dealing with special needs to inner peace or rather the continuous quest to find it, some art, teaching, learning and the occasional stroll down memory lane. So, just about everything that makes me, me! I promise to add some delightful goodies like worksheets, DIYs with your kids at home, etc. too.
There will be ‘ha ha’ moments along with the ‘oh really?’ and ‘oh no!’ ones, but this I promise, more than one of you will see yourself in my shoes. That and only that will validate any words I put out there. It is indeed heart warming to feel like ‘someone’s listening’. It does indeed take a village and I invite you to join my tribe.
It does indeed take a village and I invite you to join my tribe.
With my ever-mutating thoughts, here’s a look at my experiments with mammahood…! I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions and of course please do fill my cup with your gracious luck and lets take this journey together. I absolutely want to hear from you… and I will definitely respond – cross my heart and hope to die!
To all the dads and anyone looking for some insight, I give you a look under the hood and reveal what really goes on in the rack and pinions of a mamma’s head. To all my fellow moms out there, lets not shy away and keep mum; let’s share and experience life together, ‘coz like I say if anyone can do it a mother can. So come on mamma, let’s do it the Mammadoo way!
